Adopt a PetAnimal Ohana Hawaii Incorporated is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal rescue organization based in Waipahu, on the island of Oahu. The word "ohana" means family in Hawaiian, and that spirit of family is at the heart of everything we do. We believe that every animal — whether a stray dog found on the streets of Waipahu, a cat surrendered by an overwhelmed owner, or a pet displaced by a natural disaster — deserves love, care, and a permanent home.
Our mission is to rescue animals in need across Hawaii, provide them with veterinary care and rehabilitation, and connect them with loving adoptive families. We envision a Hawaii where no healthy or treatable animal is euthanized due to lack of space or resources, and where every community member understands the importance of responsible pet ownership and animal welfare.
Hawaii's animal shelters face chronic overcrowding, and thousands of animals across the islands are at risk each year. Animal Ohana Hawaii was founded to provide a compassionate, community-based alternative — working alongside existing shelters and rescue networks to save more lives and find more forever homes for Hawaii's animals in need.

Browse our available animals and find your perfect match. Our adoption process is designed to ensure that every animal goes to a home where they will be loved, safe, and well cared for. We have dogs, cats, and other small animals available for adoption.
Not ready to adopt permanently? Become a foster family and provide a temporary loving home for an animal in need. Fostering saves lives by freeing up space in our rescue network and giving animals the socialization they need to thrive in a home environment.
We offer workshops, school programs, and community events focused on responsible pet ownership, the importance of spaying and neutering, and how community members can support animal welfare across Hawaii.
